About Us
The
Republic of Cyprus, a member state of the European Union as
of May 2004, early on endorsed the development of the
Anna Lindh Foundation for Dialogue between Cultures. The
Republic acknowledges the unique complexities of intercultural
dialogue but in particular of building an area of peace and
stability
through
consolidating cooperation in many areas such as human rights,
democracy, development, knowledge, and social diversity for
youth.
Currently the
Cyprus national network is made up of twenty nine (29) civil
society organisations/institutions in diverse fields but all
promoting, expressing and underlining issues that ALF stands
for. The
Cyprus Center for European and International Affairs was
invited to take over the coordination of the network of Cypriot
organisations/institutions that are active in intercultural
dialogue at the local level but above all have working knowledge
of cross-Mediterranean cooperation. Its remit includes expanding
the network, creating visibility for the ALF, information
management, and above all provision of support aiming at
strengthening those working or intending to work
cross-Mediterranean within the realms of the ALF.
